Improve Traffic Flow
|

< HOME |
With certain parts of the 31st District being the fastest-growing
populated areas in the state, Dan Roach recognizes the
importance of having a safe, efficient transportation structure.
Dan has worked for a transportation system that would improve
traffic flow, allowing commuters to spend more time with their
families -- a system that also allows the smooth flow of goods and
services, and supports jobs and the economy.
|
Addressing local transportation needs
-
Under Dan Roach's watch, more than $122 million in
transportation projects have been approved for the 31st District,
including expansion of HOV and HOT lanes on the Valley Freeway --
SR 167, and highway safety improvements for State Routes 164, 169,
and 410.
-
Dan Roach also supported the supplemental transportation
budget (Senate
Bill 6241) approved by the 2006 Legislature which
adds about $121.6 million to the existing two-year transportation
budget of $5.3 billion. Included is $2 million for 18 additional
State Patrol troopers to increase patrols on state highways and
ease homeland security concerns on state ferries. Nearly $1
million is earmarked for incident response coverage in the Puget
Sound area. The measure spends $20 million to improve transit
service and park-and-ride lots.
Accountability
with your transportation dollars
-
When the Legislature was crafting a statewide transportation
funding package that would increase gas taxes by 9 ½ cents per
gallon, Dan Roach joined with fellow Republicans to insist
on independent performance audits of the Washington Department of
Transportation. The audits ensure that your tax dollars are
being spent efficiently and effectively on highway projects
throughout Washington.
