Create Better Schools
|

< HOME |
As a parent of three children, a leader in Boy Scouts, and a
businessman who works with young people every day, Dan
Roach understands the importance of a
quality education for every child in the state of Washington.
It is the key to a successful future for our next generation.
During his years in the Washington House of Representatives, Dan has
worked to strengthen our public education system and create better schools.

Here
are some examples of Dan Roach's work:
WASL
Testing
-
In 2006, Dan supported legislation
(House
Bill 2414) to give schools greater
flexibility for the use of alternative assessments. The measure
also provided more options for students who fail the WASL
(Washington Assessment of Student Learning). In addition, he voted
in favor of legislation to help every student achieve WASL
standards and graduate on time by offering remedial classes,
tutors, and expanded summer school.
Early Childhood Learning
-
Research shows that 90 percent of human brain development occurs
in the early years of life. Dan believes one of the greatest
investments we can make for our children is in early learning.
That's why he supported
House Bill 2964 in 2006, which
provides for early learning programs in our schools.
Financial Literacy
- One of the most important skills that we
all need to know is how to properly save, use credit, balance a
checkbook, and handle money. Dan believes financial literacy is an
important element to help young people be successful in the real
world. That's why he prime-sponsored
House Bill 2152, a measure
that would increase classroom opportunities to teach financial
literacy to public school students.
